Football Manager 2007 Genie Scout

This is a very good program that allows you to discover the hidden talents and potential stars in your FM2007 game. Genie Scout is done by a Ukranian, Eugene Tarabanovskyi. It is based on the old CM scout program by Michael Nygreen.

This Genie Scout program allows you to find players based on his potential and current abilities rating. In this way, you can find out the uncovered stars hidden in some places where your eyes doesn’t even place a look on. You can also see the position rating for players, to see which position best suit the player and for your club. You can also see estimated price of the players, so you do not have to do guessing game and testing in order to get the best price for a particular player.

Here is the screenshot for the Genie Scout.

You can check out this site for more information of this program.

Some of you may think that this is considered cheating in FM, because in order to find good players, you have to send your scouts and find players on your own, in order to experience the real-life football management game. But well, it is only a game.

FM 2007 7.0.1 bugs report

There are numerous posts on internet forums that state that after patch FM 2007 to 7.0.1, there have been some problems when playing the game.

These are some of the bugs reported.

Contract Bug [Link]: Player’s contract length changed when he rejected a new contract from his club during contract renewals.

SI recommends that you should comply to the needs of the players that you want to recontract until the new patch is out in the coming weeks.

Well, for the FM fans out there, bear with it for a while. In the meantime, you can relax yourself with other games or try to comply to the needs of your players, if your financial ability of your club permits.

GameBlog will update you when the new patch is out.

Football Manager 2007 Players

*NOTICE* (updated on 21 June) I’m going to create a new post soon and update with a new list of players I compiled. Please keep track of the main page for the updates.

*NOTICE* (updated on 22 June) The new list is up, visit the list via this link.

I decided to compile a list of players that I think is worth signing in the game. Take note that I will update this page once in a while to consolidate recommendations.

Goalkeeper
Kasper Schmeichel (Man City) – You can buy him and get your first team GK to tutor him, it will be a great help.

Igor Akinfeev (CSKA Moscow) – One of the bargain keepers in FM 2006, but come with a higher price tag.

Scott Carson (Liverpool) – Good GK, 21 years old. Relatively strong, but can be improved.

Defender
Micah Richards (Man City) – 18 years old Wonderkid, great header. Come with a hefty price tag. Approximately more than 12 million pounds.

Anthony Vanden Borre (Anderlecht) -19 years old defender. Great right back, used as a rotation when Carragher is used as centre-back. Can be bought at around 3 to 4 millions pounds.

Leighton Baines (Wigan) – Strong left back. Comparable to Ashley Cole as a left back.

Marcelo (Fluminese) – A good left back, capable. I bought him at 9 million pounds in the 2nd season. Recommended by many FMers.

Eduardo Ratinho (Corinthians) – Recommended by many FMers also, defence stats are not top-notch, but the attacking stats are good, capable of being an attacking defender.

Dani Alves (Sevilla) – Right Back, stats aren’t fantastic but recommended by many FMers.

Midfielder

Yohan Mollo (Monaco) – 16 years old. Future prospect. Can be bought at around 1 million pounds.

Cristian Benavente (Real Madrid C) – 16 years old. Great stats, can be improved to world-class level. He comes with a minimum release clause, however he does not want to leave as he said he cannot improve before he leaves.

Sherman Cardenas (Bucaramanga)- 17 years old. Good young midfielder with potential. Price tag: 1 million pounds.

Forward/Striker

Michael Owen (Newcastle) – 26 years old. You can buy him at the end of the first season as he is not playing regularly due to injury. Still a great scorer. Price tag: less than 10 million pounds.

Craig Lindfield (Liverpool) – 17 years old. Young and full of potential to become better. Relatively slow, but can be improved.

Theo Walcott (Arsenal)- 17 years old superb talent, full of power and speed. Sometimes you can buy him from Arsenal at around 15 millions but sometimes 50 millions. Depends on your luck.

David Villa (Valencia) – 25 years old. Come with a minimum release clause which is much lower than the expected price. Great purchase.

Javier Saviola (Barcelona) – In Barcelona second team, you can get him for less than 10 million pounds. Capable of scoring regularly.

Nicolas Millan (Colo Colo) – Extremely young and capable scorer of his age. You can sign a youth contract with him only, but as he is young, you may encounter the work permit problem.

That’s all for today. Will update with more players. You can add to this list by commenting below.

Football Manager 2007 Tips and Tricks

*NOTICE* GameBlog has moved to www.thegameblog.net. Please kindly proceed to this link for more updates! Cheers!

Wondering why your Holland and Germany are filled of greyed out players, even when you ticked the “Use Real Player” when creating a new game? Where are Ballack and van Nistelrooy?

I do not have exact answer on why “real” players are used. But the best answer will be that SI did not get the license from the Holland and Germany FA to display the real team.

To reveal the real players, you simply need to delete a folder in the Football Manager 2007 directory. Go to C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2007\data\db\700, there will be a directory INC. Delete this INC folder, recreate a new game, and here come the Ballack and Kuyt.

If you are using EPL teams, you will notice that there are no clubs logos and player faces. Well, I think the licensing fee of EPL teams are too expensive, however you can download fan-made logos pictures and facepacks from www.sortitoutsi.net, and copy to the respective directory in the data directory, or directory specified by the producers themselves. Look out for the README file.

If you have problems applying the kits, logos, and pictures, turn off the skin cache and reload FM to see the changes.
I have read some of the popular forums where people play FM, here are some of the players these forumers recommends.

  1. Esteban Cambiasso – Inter Milan (around 11.5 million pounds)
  2. Freddy Adu – D.C United (Loan)
  3. Renato Augusto – Flamengo (not sure, by “touted by media as the next Ronaldinho”

I have added another list of players that I recommend for the game, you can see the list at this page.
