I decided to compile a list of players that I think is worth signing in the game. Take note that I will update this page once in a while to consolidate recommendations.
Goalkeeper
Kasper Schmeichel (Man City) - You can buy him and get your first team GK to tutor him, it will be a great help.
Igor Akinfeev (CSKA Moscow) - One of the bargain keepers in FM 2006, but come with a higher price tag.
Scott Carson (Liverpool) - Good GK, 21 years old. Relatively strong, but can be improved.
Defender
Micah Richards (Man City) - 18 years old Wonderkid, great header. Come with a hefty price tag. Approximately more than 12 million pounds.
Anthony Vanden Borre (Anderlecht) -19 years old defender. Great right back, used as a rotation when Carragher is used as centre-back. Can be bought at around 3 to 4 millions pounds.
Leighton Baines (Wigan) - Strong left back. Comparable to Ashley Cole as a left back.
Marcelo (Fluminese) - A good left back, capable. I bought him at 9 million pounds in the 2nd season. Recommended by many FMers.
Eduardo Ratinho (Corinthians) - Recommended by many FMers also, defence stats are not top-notch, but the attacking stats are good, capable of being an attacking defender.
Dani Alves (Sevilla) - Right Back, stats aren’t fantastic but recommended by many FMers.
Midfielder
Yohan Mollo (Monaco) - 16 years old. Future prospect. Can be bought at around 1 million pounds.
Cristian Benavente (Real Madrid C) - 16 years old. Great stats, can be improved to world-class level. He comes with a minimum release clause, however he does not want to leave as he said he cannot improve before he leaves.
Sherman Cardenas (Bucaramanga)- 17 years old. Good young midfielder with potential. Price tag: 1 million pounds.
Forward/Striker
Michael Owen (Newcastle) - 26 years old. You can buy him at the end of the first season as he is not playing regularly due to injury. Still a great scorer. Price tag: less than 10 million pounds.
Craig Lindfield (Liverpool) - 17 years old. Young and full of potential to become better. Relatively slow, but can be improved.
Theo Walcott (Arsenal)- 17 years old superb talent, full of power and speed. Sometimes you can buy him from Arsenal at around 15 millions but sometimes 50 millions. Depends on your luck.
David Villa (Valencia) - 25 years old. Come with a minimum release clause which is much lower than the expected price. Great purchase.
Javier Saviola (Barcelona) - In Barcelona second team, you can get him for less than 10 million pounds. Capable of scoring regularly.
Nicolas Millan (Colo Colo) - Extremely young and capable scorer of his age. You can sign a youth contract with him only, but as he is young, you may encounter the work permit problem.

What is a genie scout and how do I get older players to tutor young ones?
im on my first season with arsenal and im top by quite a few points and im just going to try some of them players you all recommended! kerlon is a good player from a brazilian team! vanden borre is also a good player from andelecht!
couple of great players, im sunderland, got promotion first season and finished 4th in second.
Higuian - absolutly superb. 20 goals in prem and hes 19 - River Plate
john obi mikel - buy after first season, 5-8 mil
tobias hysen - play him upfront, not in midfield
nyatanga - great young left/centre back, cheap and english
Morientes - valencia - for experience, got him for 2 mil coz valencia some how got relegated!
Nicolas Millan - wonderkid, starts off as a 14 year old with good striker stats and by 16 he is genius, one of the buys of the game.
Jaun Sebastien Veron - again for experience and still is great, bought for 2.1 mil, one of the bargain buys.
daniel sturridge and chris brown - two great young prospect, both are essential if your in championship and both are still great in prem.
Flamini - Aresnal, 5mill, superb, once you buy him and play him by end of season he is worth 11 mill. he is genius, very consistant.

vincent komapany is ace and so is anthony vanden borre but the best 2 prospect stikers on the game are bojan ( barcelona C ) and nicolás millán ( colo colo ) theyre ace players must buy a went celtic and got millian and wen he was old enuf 2 play he scored 73 goals in 55 games !!!!!

Stephen fishbourne - weymouth is a realy quick and cheap rm who is well worth buying! Ian Bridges in - port vale youth is awesome - really quick centre forward age 15- potential england player, 25 + goals in prem with newcastle 2010! Chris Reed good centre back! Ian Leighton scottish full back from Kilmarnock ends up being awesome and cheap for around 200 k! A real find and my personal fave is - Chris Purkiss stuck in Preston North Ehd reserves a real gem god knows y he is there and dont be fooled by poor stats! this left footed winger set up 23 goals in prem last yera and is transfer listed from start!

how do I get older players to tutor young ones??

Go to the name of the young player that you want to tutoring, click on it. Then choose the ‘Player Interaction’. On the bottom of the ‘Player Interaction’ screen there will be an option of older players that can be used to tutor the young ones. Choose the older players that have the same positions with the younger players.

players i hav had succes with are all the obvious 1s adu, borre etc. check out enrico da ros (milan) tho. he is like 200k young player and not always but if ur lucky turns awesome. if u r a bit unlucky wait a couple of seasons and u cn still get 2m back for him. pablo vitti(argentinian) under 1m at start of game, maybe loan him out first season and he will be about as good as saviola in 2009ish.
btw a great type of game if ur bored:
delete sum1 like barnsley and add a new club into the championship on editor. give them a gd rep etc but no squad. start the game with 25-30m to purchase the whole team and see if you can get promotion. once ur in prem try and qualify for europe. i got 102 pts first season in championship, cme 5th in prem and league cup winners next, 1st in prem fa cup winners and uefa cup winners after that. big stadiums help for the transfer budget later on. have fun

I am currently in my third season with Manchester United (2008/2009) and I have tried to sign both Sherman Cardenas and Nicolas Millan but I’m having problems with work permits. The screen says it they can sign, but will have to move on loan to an affilated club to again an official EU Work Permit.
Does anybody know how long they would have to go on loan for in order to play for me? Is it a season or even more? Any feedback on this would be appreciated.

Craig, in order to get the work permit, I think you have to send your players to your affilated club at least 3 years to get the work permit.
Craig instead of sending ,millan and cardenas on load just offer them a new contract. This generally works, i sign freddy adu and wendel and had the same problem with both them and millan but once they signed a new deal they no longer needed a wp.

Its hard to get that kind of money from your board, but after my first prem season when i finished 2nd i got a new board who gave me £85,000,000 straight away and a nice amount in Jan.
Huntelaar, Pardo, Jarvis, Svensson, Bruce, Bale And Jensen, need to be bought early on or they will cost more than i paid .. Jan, Of 2nd season at latest or they will cut deeper into your budget..
You will probably need to sell a lot of your squad quickly aswell before there value drops and they become increasingly unhappy with you.

For Championship teams, stay up in your first season, try to build up a transfer budget at end of first season you can get Hasselbaink (free) 10 goals in 11 games, Modubi (Chelsea 1m), guardiola (free), Enckelman (free). I am now sitting in 7th plac with Coventry City with these players.
Obviously need to shuffle round the squad. Sell Kyle and any plares worth over 500k except John & Ward.

Hey! Anyone heard of Fahed Zaboub? Plays for Qatar SC I think. Explosive! Scored 50 Goals in 37 Games for me! Also netted World Player of The Year and Golden Boot for Qatar at the 2010 World Cup! Another great player is Kevin Moon. He is a MUST Sign! plays for St. Johnstone and is only 19. He starts of with rubbish stats but he is awesone! you need good coaches to make him great though! he is midfield and he scored 43 goals for me in 31 games last season! Unbeleiveable!
