I decided to compile a list of players that I think is worth signing in the game. Take note that I will update this page once in a while to consolidate recommendations.
Goalkeeper
Kasper Schmeichel (Man City) – You can buy him and get your first team GK to tutor him, it will be a great help.
Igor Akinfeev (CSKA Moscow) – One of the bargain keepers in FM 2006, but come with a higher price tag.
Scott Carson (Liverpool) – Good GK, 21 years old. Relatively strong, but can be improved.
Defender
Micah Richards (Man City) – 18 years old Wonderkid, great header. Come with a hefty price tag. Approximately more than 12 million pounds.
Anthony Vanden Borre (Anderlecht) -19 years old defender. Great right back, used as a rotation when Carragher is used as centre-back. Can be bought at around 3 to 4 millions pounds.
Leighton Baines (Wigan) – Strong left back. Comparable to Ashley Cole as a left back.
Marcelo (Fluminese) – A good left back, capable. I bought him at 9 million pounds in the 2nd season. Recommended by many FMers.
Eduardo Ratinho (Corinthians) – Recommended by many FMers also, defence stats are not top-notch, but the attacking stats are good, capable of being an attacking defender.
Dani Alves (Sevilla) – Right Back, stats aren’t fantastic but recommended by many FMers.
Midfielder
Yohan Mollo (Monaco) – 16 years old. Future prospect. Can be bought at around 1 million pounds.
Cristian Benavente (Real Madrid C) – 16 years old. Great stats, can be improved to world-class level. He comes with a minimum release clause, however he does not want to leave as he said he cannot improve before he leaves.
Sherman Cardenas (Bucaramanga)- 17 years old. Good young midfielder with potential. Price tag: 1 million pounds.
Forward/Striker
Michael Owen (Newcastle) – 26 years old. You can buy him at the end of the first season as he is not playing regularly due to injury. Still a great scorer. Price tag: less than 10 million pounds.
Craig Lindfield (Liverpool) – 17 years old. Young and full of potential to become better. Relatively slow, but can be improved.
Theo Walcott (Arsenal)- 17 years old superb talent, full of power and speed. Sometimes you can buy him from Arsenal at around 15 millions but sometimes 50 millions. Depends on your luck.
David Villa (Valencia) – 25 years old. Come with a minimum release clause which is much lower than the expected price. Great purchase.
Javier Saviola (Barcelona) – In Barcelona second team, you can get him for less than 10 million pounds. Capable of scoring regularly.
Nicolas Millan (Colo Colo) – Extremely young and capable scorer of his age. You can sign a youth contract with him only, but as he is young, you may encounter the work permit problem.

What is a genie scout and how do I get older players to tutor young ones?
im on my first season with arsenal and im top by quite a few points and im just going to try some of them players you all recommended! kerlon is a good player from a brazilian team! vanden borre is also a good player from andelecht!
couple of great players, im sunderland, got promotion first season and finished 4th in second.
Higuian – absolutly superb. 20 goals in prem and hes 19 – River Plate
john obi mikel – buy after first season, 5-8 mil
tobias hysen – play him upfront, not in midfield
nyatanga – great young left/centre back, cheap and english
Morientes – valencia – for experience, got him for 2 mil coz valencia some how got relegated!
Nicolas Millan – wonderkid, starts off as a 14 year old with good striker stats and by 16 he is genius, one of the buys of the game.
Jaun Sebastien Veron – again for experience and still is great, bought for 2.1 mil, one of the bargain buys.
daniel sturridge and chris brown – two great young prospect, both are essential if your in championship and both are still great in prem.
Flamini – Aresnal, 5mill, superb, once you buy him and play him by end of season he is worth 11 mill. he is genius, very consistant.

vincent komapany is ace and so is anthony vanden borre but the best 2 prospect stikers on the game are bojan ( barcelona C ) and nicolás millán ( colo colo ) theyre ace players must buy a went celtic and got millian and wen he was old enuf 2 play he scored 73 goals in 55 games !!!!!

Stephen fishbourne – weymouth is a realy quick and cheap rm who is well worth buying! Ian Bridges in – port vale youth is awesome – really quick centre forward age 15- potential england player, 25 + goals in prem with newcastle 2010! Chris Reed good centre back! Ian Leighton scottish full back from Kilmarnock ends up being awesome and cheap for around 200 k! A real find and my personal fave is – Chris Purkiss stuck in Preston North Ehd reserves a real gem god knows y he is there and dont be fooled by poor stats! this left footed winger set up 23 goals in prem last yera and is transfer listed from start!

how do I get older players to tutor young ones??

Go to the name of the young player that you want to tutoring, click on it. Then choose the ‘Player Interaction’. On the bottom of the ‘Player Interaction’ screen there will be an option of older players that can be used to tutor the young ones. Choose the older players that have the same positions with the younger players.

players i hav had succes with are all the obvious 1s adu, borre etc. check out enrico da ros (milan) tho. he is like 200k young player and not always but if ur lucky turns awesome. if u r a bit unlucky wait a couple of seasons and u cn still get 2m back for him. pablo vitti(argentinian) under 1m at start of game, maybe loan him out first season and he will be about as good as saviola in 2009ish.
btw a great type of game if ur bored:
delete sum1 like barnsley and add a new club into the championship on editor. give them a gd rep etc but no squad. start the game with 25-30m to purchase the whole team and see if you can get promotion. once ur in prem try and qualify for europe. i got 102 pts first season in championship, cme 5th in prem and league cup winners next, 1st in prem fa cup winners and uefa cup winners after that. big stadiums help for the transfer budget later on. have fun

I am currently in my third season with Manchester United (2008/2009) and I have tried to sign both Sherman Cardenas and Nicolas Millan but I’m having problems with work permits. The screen says it they can sign, but will have to move on loan to an affilated club to again an official EU Work Permit.
Does anybody know how long they would have to go on loan for in order to play for me? Is it a season or even more? Any feedback on this would be appreciated.

Craig, in order to get the work permit, I think you have to send your players to your affilated club at least 3 years to get the work permit.
Craig instead of sending ,millan and cardenas on load just offer them a new contract. This generally works, i sign freddy adu and wendel and had the same problem with both them and millan but once they signed a new deal they no longer needed a wp.

Its hard to get that kind of money from your board, but after my first prem season when i finished 2nd i got a new board who gave me £85,000,000 straight away and a nice amount in Jan.
Huntelaar, Pardo, Jarvis, Svensson, Bruce, Bale And Jensen, need to be bought early on or they will cost more than i paid .. Jan, Of 2nd season at latest or they will cut deeper into your budget..
You will probably need to sell a lot of your squad quickly aswell before there value drops and they become increasingly unhappy with you.

For Championship teams, stay up in your first season, try to build up a transfer budget at end of first season you can get Hasselbaink (free) 10 goals in 11 games, Modubi (Chelsea 1m), guardiola (free), Enckelman (free). I am now sitting in 7th plac with Coventry City with these players.
Obviously need to shuffle round the squad. Sell Kyle and any plares worth over 500k except John & Ward.

Hey! Anyone heard of Fahed Zaboub? Plays for Qatar SC I think. Explosive! Scored 50 Goals in 37 Games for me! Also netted World Player of The Year and Golden Boot for Qatar at the 2010 World Cup! Another great player is Kevin Moon. He is a MUST Sign! plays for St. Johnstone and is only 19. He starts of with rubbish stats but he is awesone! you need good coaches to make him great though! he is midfield and he scored 43 goals for me in 31 games last season! Unbeleiveable!

Hey I play on fm with my bro n he is always Man U n im always Chelsea. Weve just finished our 3rd season i won the prem the first 2 and he won the prem in this last season, my strickers just dint cut the pace (shev). Most of the big name strikers have gone and can not be baught for less than 40 mil and chelsea do not have that sort of money anymore! Can any one suggest any big full on ST’s, the only couple i can think of are Boljinov and bojan (barce C)! If any one can suggest any that would be great, as i am in need to strengthen my attack force with a quality player!

Fernando Torres is awesome on the game, he’s won world player of the year 4 out of the 5 past seasons and scores 35+ a season. Akinfeev is great shot stopper costs around 11 mil. Like many ppl have already said walcott is quality but can become extremely expensive after a cpl of seasons. If you buy Rafinha of Schalke don’t praise his good performances as always has 4/5 games afterwards where his rating is 5 max
M.James: Since you have already sold the best players you have, you need to buy players of equal ability to replace. For midfielder, you can get Steven Gerrard or Alonso, Cardenas for long term replacement. As for Striker, you can get David Villa from Valencia at 24million pounds or Michael Owen. For long term replacement, you can get Nicolas Millan from Colo Colo.
M.Murray: Since you have already sold ‘Liverpool’, you have to rebuild it. For defenders, Micah Richards and Vanden Borre will do the job. Midfielder wise, Cardenas and Freddy Adu. Strikers will be Michael Owen, Villa and Torres. For GK, you can use Scott Carson.

A good striker is Defoe who I got for £15 mill although david Villa is brill and for a minimum release fee of £24 mill which is his value anyway, Hes a bargain!!!

If you need a World Class Championship Goalkeeper look no further then Vincent Enyeama, he is really good, put him straight into 1st team, he kicks into gear 1st season, i was Sheffield Wednesday and he was my best player,I got prmoted and i conceded the least goals in the whole of England, He made loads of “Fine Save” and “Excellent Save”, and the best thing is, he’s only 150k, he plays for Bnei Yehuda or Enyimba, i forgot which 1. Also scout Brazil’s U19 squad, if you can’t find players you want there that are very cheap i would be shocked also columbia and ecuador 1st teams and argentina

I only look on with envy the teams that you guys have put out, I play with southampton who were cash strapped but i got bale and a cracking youth system, however my transfer budget even in my third season where i have managed to get into europe after a great last day promotion, last day relegation battle and a cracking victory over Liverpool, reina got chipped from the chipped from the touchline, i cannot for the life of me shift players and my board are always doing some kind of improvement so were are cash strapped and the wage structure is rigid, i think im ok my team is full of eastern europes finest cos they were cheap but i need a striker for dirt cheap, i got half a mil left … advice?
Basically, I have an ok team, its building slowly but I need an absolute mind bender of a cheap striker and I have half a mil i have tried to get mokoena and its been futile at best always get him to agree but permit problems block the way… need advice and a cheap striker im in the third season, adu is wrth 10 mil cant afford him, okaka is at spurs *spit*, cant get him, adebayor is at everton and moyes is my mortal enemy, bojan is a first teamer at barca, acuna is at barca, kahlenberg opted for lazio, bojinov is at spurs, kompany at chelsea in fact all those players u guys have mentioned are not within reach for me.. havent tried celsinho or millian, sanchez isnt interested, vela opted for u gimnastic, maybe he felt he wouldnt get a start, does rui fonte turn out good? and i signed a player called nino, absolutely stupid high composure, incredible finishing but the first touch of an elephant and gets pushed of the ball what do i do with him or do i let him go as my coaches keep saying.
Zaccardo – One of the best Right backs. Plays for Palermo i think. bought for 9 mill.
Garay – Stats are awesome and is a solid Center Back
Morrietti – Good Left back decent stats does well
Arteta – Brilliant right winger if you can sign him
Downing – Turns great after 1 Seasons
If not N’Zogbia is a great young player that has lots of potential.
Montolivo is GREAT if you retrain him to CM

Degrate, if you cannot get WP for Millan, you can send him to ur feeder club first.

Degrate ardegmani maybe you should try signing a coach who he recommended it worked for me when super stropper nikolous anelka started preforming exceptionally badly i think you probably know how to do this anyway but right click on a player then click on player interaction and ask him to recommend a coach who he recomennds woh he says will come up in the news.
If that does not work try singerling him out for praise or critiscism this might work ocassionaly also check to see if his morale is low and if it is praise him more often.

I as many of you have signed a great player without a work permit.
As suggested i have tried to offer him a new contract, this makes another appeal for a work permit. But unfortunatly for me i keep getting turned down.
I have had him training without being able to play for a month now.. but he seems happy enough..
i am comming to the end of the season and will keep trying and will let u all know if he is able to get a wp…

To the guy whos thinking of selling torres, you are right 2 consider selling torres he is one of the best strickers on the game however fro the money you can get for him he could fund you a few top class players. but i wnt cell him for less than £35 mil and thats minimum, unless his contract is expiring. if you are still looking for a right winger buy Yohan Gourcoff from milan he is awsome and for £5.5 mil an absolute steal trust me you wnt b disapointed with him.

There is a short term solution to work your way around the work permit problem although it only works from time to time. I have just signed Sebastien Zuniga for Everton but he won’t join any of my affiliate clubs! I offered him a new contract as A Squad Rotation Player and wasn’t given a work permit. So I decided to offer him a new contract as An Important First Team Player and he was granted the permit. The only problem I face now is that at 18 I have promised him first team football and he will be unhappy when I don’t play him regularly. As I said it’s a short term solution!

Guardado – plays awsome on the wing pretty cheap and after a season price shoots up to more than 10 mil and keeps risin! (I strongly recommend him!!!!!!)
Celsinho – great on the right wing, AMC, or upfront young and awsome
Yohan Gourcuff – can get for around 5mil from milan (portsmouth may struggle 2 get him but realy worth a shot)
Higuian AM/FC – as celsinho about 5 mil maybe less if ur lucky and an absolute wounderkid

guardado- hes an instant wonderkid like gourcuff but will always cum 2 any prem side and provided u play him left mid goin 4ward there is no 1 better on the game. steal at 2.8 mill.

pocognoli is from genk and cost 1.2 mill but is the BEST left back on the game and im saying this as ive been big clubs like chelsea even 8 years on n no 1 performs like him especially assists wise.

If you need a good cheap striker then get Gustavo Oberman. He’ll do the job.

I’m from Belgium and play with Anderlecht Rsc. In my first season I played the Champions League final, lost against Man U after extra time. But on the road I’ve won against Chelsea, Arsenal, Ajax, … not too bad for a team like RSCA.
A player who had a lot to do with that was Hamdi Salihi, I don’t think anyone has mentioned him. He’s quite cheap in the beginning of the game because he won’t sign another contract at his club Tirana. I got him for a fee of 1 milj €, now 1 and a half season later he’s worth 4.5 €. He’s no wonderkid and maybe not material for the big clubs, but for all the rest he’s perfect !
Other good players from my team in the 2nd season: Enyeama/Zieler, Garay, Vidal, Vanden Borre, Van Damme, Bale, Biglia, Cerrajero, Polak, Giovanni dos Santos, Cardenas, Vilakazi, Bojan, Millan, ….

In my second season with liverpool i baught sergio aguero for a bargain price of £12M in the January transfer window. Im now entering my third season after wining the league for the 2nd time and Aguero has yet to produce a good performance and its been half a year.
Does any one know how i can get him performing to a potential that matches his amazing stats? do i need to retrain him? play him in a different position? or just sell him on if i can?

he needs time to settle into the style of football and gel with the team i expect after about november of your third season he’ll turn into a goal machine. you could also critise his form, look on his personal bit and see his concerns he might just need a lave of absence
jonny mate if u can give him an xtended rest period do that for a week or 2 then tell him your dissapointed at his form and ull feel the diffrence. if thats not workin try bringin in another striker 2 play aside him or drop him 2 attacking midfield just behind or off side of ur main striker and keep tabs on his form. if ur lookin 4 anova striker higuain or falcao are both a diffrent class or palacio. hope its helped fella

I signed sidnie (not sure about the spelling) who will b about 17 on ur game very good player and also anither young player who could play CB or DM n he cost about 8k n his stats are very good, so if u go around and look at all of the teams in ther ul definatly find urself a dc
A good right back to buy is amaral from brazil for around 7-8 million very robust and a goal scorer.

I have loaded the important leagues in my current game and also have “large” database on. But still I can’t find a fair few of the players that have been mentioned. I am guessing it is because these players are generated after the begining of the game. If this is the case don’t bother publishing their names as they are only in your game an no one elses.
Aaron I am currently using Dortmund and their GK is Roman Weidenfella, he is good, but don’t know how much he would cost.

For “Alan Nesbitt”, thers no way u will keep any of those players without some serious cheating, the only way ul do it is to get promoted to the prem n do well in that b4 ther contracts run out or they get unhappy.
You should also try and play the game without cheating in the 1st place makes it much more fun and intresting, as thers no way any of them players would relisticly move to halifax or any team in the confrance div, even the championship league is pushing it.
N if uv done it for a “challenge” then it wnt be much of one with a team with players of that calibre in such a poor league.
I suggest you start again without cheating and try playing with a team in the champianship or a mid level team in the prem, will make the game much more fun, intresting and worth while !!!

well Aaron i can answer your problems again also with rangers i bought Hearts goalie craig gordon he is brilliant, bought him for around 6m that may just be on my game and by the end of the second season chelsea and man u wanted him for 25m!!!! is that good or what and i need a bit of help to. i am southend second season bought a few good players eastwood is amazing but i only came 9th in the league and i expected to at least make the play offs, can somebody give me a few good players including a solid centre back and a striker to play along side eastwood bearing in mind my budget is only 100k.

try to buy gareth bale.he is left back with wonderful freekick and assist.Luizao (DC) is the good centerback with powerful defense.Celsinho (AMR) is fantastic winger and can make score also.Try to buy these wonderfull kids!!

Just wanted to share an awesome formation with you. It makes your team play beautifully, score lots of goals and for some reason makes you concede very few! However, you need a very good team to pull it off, preferably teams with strong defenders, powerful central midifelders and lots of speed and flair going forward. I’ve been using it with Chelsea and it works amazingly! It looks like this :

You also need to modify the team instructions as follows: use short passing; attacking mentality; very quick tempo; use width (not too much); defensive line push up; much creative freedom. You can adjust these to your liking, but I use it like this and it works a treat. The team I’m using is Cech;A,Cole;Terry;Carvalho;Vanden Borre;Essien(mc);Lampard(mc);Robben(aml);Ballack(unbelievable as amc, has scored 32gls in 36games, no word of a lie); J,Cole(amr);Villa(st).
Let me know (if you try it) how it works for your team.
Sorry….just to add one more thing….this formation might take a few games before the players get used to it. But please be patient, beacause when it takes full effect, you’ll never want to use the boring old 4-4-2 again!!

I can play this game only 4-5 years,because after 4 or 5 years the game is full of unknown players(verry,verry good ) who have ratings above 190 (I have genie scout) and they are much better than villa,ronadhinio,kompany,etc and
this is so unrealistic and SUCKS. of course i can take them but is not the same….
EX. VILLA have 185 and a sucker like GUERRA(!!?!!) have 198. players above 180-190 doesn’t appear every day like in FM 2007 .

thesquire, Firstly welcome to FM ul not regret ur perchase i can asure you, that formation will most prob not work in europe, you should try a 4(defenders)-1(DM)-2(out on the wing with arrows forward)-1(AMC)-2(ST) formation works great, and u should try and buy another left back as Guardado is being wasted back there he needs 2 be on the wing, i strongly suggest lookin at marcelo, or espanza both are great players.
I am west ham and am currenly 62 games unbeaten in the prem and thats the formation i use. im 8 games into 2009 season and guardado is worth £26 mil. amzing on the wing, and adu plays wel in the AMC spot but also so does Cardenas. with the team uve got this fromation would most likely siut it pretty wel, u may need to think about bringing in a new striker. As your short on cash this may have to wait till uve got more, but go to the brazil under 21s and thers a few good strikers in that lot that you can get for next to nothing.

Eddie Johnson from dc united is a great signing. dont be tempted by lee trundle or freddie eastwood. they are poor once they move clubs.

Here’s another tip for anyone who’s interested, and it’s not really cheating (I honestly think cheating is pointless, you value your wins so much more if you don’t cheat!). This is just a way to cheat the imaginary immigration authorities!! Go to the FM Editor (for the guy who didn’t know how to get there, go to programs > sports interactive > FM Editor ). Once your there, load the database and click nations, then search all the major NON-EU footballing nations (Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Nigeria etc). When you select one of these nations, go to information. Then there should be an unchecked box with something like EU member written next to it. Check this box. What this does is make the game believe that Brazil is part of the EU and it gets rid of those really annoying work permit issues!

Kevin Doyle – Strker will get you 15-25 goals per season no doubt.
Vichislav Hleb- Wide right or Striker (best) will be cheap and get you goals and aot of assists.
Sherman Cardenas- Attacking Midfeilder will be cheap but needs a work permit so you really need a belgium affiliate club to loan him out until he gets WP.
Matias Campos- Striker will get great rates and plenty of goals for this young chilian but again you really need a belgium affiliate club to loan him out until he gets WP.
Insua – Central Deffender will be very cheap bout 70k but is very consistant and gets a few goals. Once again you really need a belgium affiliate club to loan him out until he gets WP.
Freddy Adu- Attacking Midfeilder well everyone knows about him great player.
Ashley young- Winger/Striker is very good and will be England International if you give him enough games.
Renato Agusto- Attacking midfeilder is touted as next Rhonaldinho but plays very poor until he settles in so don’t shot him straight into the fray just use him asfringe player for first season.
Peter Mate- Central defender is proberbly one of the best young centre backs on the game but he is on loan at reading to start ofso you will need to wait until the end of the season and can sign him on a free.
Rivaldo- Striker the little Mozmbique player doesn’t look very good but he will be a star player for deffo.
Tim Krul- Goalkeeper is the best goalkepping prospect on the game if you loan him out for a season and then in your first team he is amazing.
Paul Huntington- Central Defender Is a quality centreback from Newcasle and you can see his stas rise quickly with matches.
Jon Grounds- Left full back from middlesbrough doesn’t look much but with games he becomes one of the best english left backs on the game.
Scott Sinclair- Striker from chelsea is touted as the next Geoff Hurst and is awsome.
Giles Barnes- Midfeilder from Darby County is a great prospect and can be as good as Paul scholes if played the right way ( attacking)
Gareth Bale- Left Full back from Southampton is going to be the best left back on the game without no doubt as i payed £4.6 mil for him and 2 seasons later he was worth £22 mil and winning young player of the year and is a great set peice taker.

Lucas is a good Defensive Midfielder if playing the 4-2-3-1 formation. Because I’m quite far into the game i can tell which players turn out to be good. Darren Bent (Charlton) is highly recommended. Scores at least 20 league goals per season if played regularly and not injured. German players Podolski and Schweinsteiger also played great for my Arsenal team (won the Champions League after a disappointing first year, after which I sold Eto’o and Henry due to their poor performances. Obafemi Martins is great as a sub; turned a lot of games arounf for me.
Xabi Alonso and Vincent Kompany can be turned into great
free-kick takers.
I found Walcott and Fabregas to be lacking strength.
Better go for Carlos Tevez instead.
I paid 45m for Kaka. Good player, but there are matches when you hardly see him at all. My latest signing is Torres from Atletico. He wasted a lot of chances in the first matches.
Aaron, you could try Gustavo Cabral (arg) or Garry Bocaly (fra). They are both young, relatively inexpensive and very good centre halves. I find that looking for Argentinian centre halves is your safest bet. Their physical attributes are always top end, and they are usually techincally sound as well. Sometimes they have disciplinary problems though!! Typical Argies!!!!
Another point (just randomly), last night I created a new database in editor and I created a superleague using the EPR as the host league. I know most of the purists here will frown upon this, but it was just for a bit of fun, and I really enjoyed it, even though it is extremely difficult to win!!! With a bit of effort, you can be playing against Barca, Chelsea, Bayern, Milan, Lyon, Celtic, Real Madrid, Man Utd, PSV, Galatasaray etc week in week out. I also went a step further and changed the championship to fill it with the typical UEFA cup sides. It really is a good crack for anyone willing to mess around a bit in the editor, but if you’re going to do it, make sure you save the database as a different name, that way you don’t have to spend hours undoing it all, just delete it!!!
(PS, I used Inter and came a distant 7th!! But it was really hard !!!)

Just started a challenge that was on some website, it’s on this blog as well, to start you own team on editor with no players and buy some on the actual game. Put my reputation to the same level as and upper prem table club would, so I can get a few good players, I’ll tell you how I get on. Any players any one has would be much appreciated.

Looks like deleted England on that new database. Delete that one create another one DO NOT delete England and your fine. To add players to a team, just search that player in the editor and where it says contract, it will say his team. Just double-click it and then type in the new team.

all your players are gd but couple of great strikers are eddie johnson from usa, he will miss a lot of chances but in the same game will score at least 1 but normally 2

i find it strange why morre people dont play the FM games a bit more reaistically. Why dont more people play the game starting with a smaller club and work your way up-ward?
i know its good being able to be Chelsea or ManU and buying the likes of Villa and Klose etc. but how can you tell if youre actually any good at the game?
instead of you actually winning the game because youre a good manager, you’ve won because the team you have was awesome to begin with if youre one of the ‘big four’ but you’ve also added three or four of the games numerous superstars.
why cant we have a few more people who build their way upward the proper way. with low budgets and poor squad morale. you’ll became a better manager if you develop youre own winning formula then work your way up to Man U and Chelsea level.
Its just what frustrates mre about people who boast about winning the leauge and european cup with Barcelona or Chelsea. i say to them anyone can do that, so lets see you try and get someone absolutely rubbish a european spot or promotion credentials or escape relegation.
To “D” : Coefficients are the number of clubs countries are allocated for the European competitions, e.g. England’s coefficient for the Champs League is 4. But Platini will soon change it to 3!!
To “Manager07″: I know what you mean. I’ve read some really annoying comments on here about people winning every competition possible for years on end with Man Utd / Chelsea etc, and it’s so unimpressive and boring. I usually have about five games on the go, and have at least one where I manage one of the top 4, because I do enjoy winning (even if it is easier) and signing big players. But it’s nothing like as fulfilling as taking a team like Charlton or Wigan, and battling your way through the season. Each victory means so much, and it feels so much more realistic. The sensation of punching your way out of relegation at the end of the season is so much more satisfying than winning the Premiership with Arsenal!!
However, people should play the game how they want to play it. It’s the type of game that appeals to the hardcore like you, and those who just play for fun and enjoy the idea of being the manager of such a larger than life club like Man Utd, Barca etc. I personally have got no time for taking on a low division club. I find it boring and tedious because I know very little about the league, the teams or the players. Championship is my limit and I’ve never cheated and never got bored.

Manager07……….I totally agree with you about the boasting, the way i do it is start with man u or chesea for a few games just to get used to the new game and layout etc, then i gradualy move further down, going from liverpool, then to a west ham like team, then into the champianship etc, currently playing a game with west brom.
The hardest thing i find is getting promoted from the championship, league 2 and league1 arent that difficult cos you can loan players but the championship, man that realy gets my stressed cos i just dont seem to be able to get that promotion.
Any tips on how i can do this with my west brom side!?

i’m playing with dinamo zagreb, when i started the game i had one relatively good dc and a god amc, after two seasons i’ve managed to win uefa cup over chelsea on penalties (ht 0-2 for chelsea),and won it again next season but against steaua. it was hard to do anything in european competitions because i had my troubles with injuries,low budget (4000 e in 1st season),i couldn’t keep my main players (the bastards (board) accepted 2,5 mil for luka modric even he vas valued 4mil) and so…
in my fifth season i didn’t won anything in europe (barca crushed me 1-0,0-3) but i won all domestic titles from the beggining,except cups because i’ve had to rest my low value low stamina players and risk it for european cups.
i’ve signed in my sixsth with villareal,2nd in my first season. in second i won the primera and lose in qf cl against man u,in my third i won everything cl,primera,cup,super cup,eu super cup,then barca aproached me and i finally had a big club in my hands,after 8 seasons (i have almoast 8 days of playing),i had a little problems in first 4 months (i was 8 in primera),they’ve almoast fired me but i’ve manage to won it in last round,also in that year i won world cup with colombia

also a great full back in the game is Rafinha. hes better than Ratinho. Also Antonio Barragan is a great full back and Traore from the arsenal youth ranks is very good potentially.

But it can be helpful as i found Uwesu and Evina from Arsenal who are both great players for the future. I got them on loan at the start of the fourth season with my newly promoted Plymouth side and they both did a fantastic job. Evina scoring 23 league goals. ive now managed to get them on permanent deals so im very happy

every time you start a new game, the players will be different. so players good in my game may suck so bad in your game.
there are players who is going to be good every time, but most of them are expensive (10mil+).
if you are playing lower leagues, the 5 star players you find with your scout will be fine. the more game a player plays, the faster his attributes will grow, so if you bought a wonder kid, he will soon become the best guy in your league.
if you are playing higher league, look for players that will make up your weak point, or the one that will replace your old starters.
don’t just buy a bunch wonder kids and replace your starters. when i play Chelsea, only replacement i made is using Daniel Alves as starting RB(also I can have 2 players for this position). Most field players are best at 28 to 32 so don’t sell a 30 years old player because he is too old. loan out the wonder kid, make sure you loan them to a club where they can be starters, and the league is competitive enough for them to grow fast.
5 star coaches are a must, and 20, 20 scouts are very important for finding new talent in later years.
if you have time, give each player a different training schedule, at least different training schedule for different position. find a few money making feeder clubs.
Every time you start a new game, the player will be different. Also depending on the tactics you using, the players work in your game, your tactics, may sucks in my game, my tactics.
There are players who is going to be good every time, but most of them are expensive (10mil+).
look for the players that fit your tactics the best. if you are playing counter, Micheal Owen will be better than Crouch, but if you are using wing play and crosses, Crouch will be better than Micheal Owen.
if you are playing lower leagues, 5star players you find with your scouts will be good enough. The more game a player plays, the faster his attributes is going to grow, so if you bought a wonder kid, he will son become the best player in your league.
if you are playing higher leagues, look for players that will make up your weak point, or the player that will replacing your old starters.

i’m pleased you agree with what i’m saying, it is always much more rewarding when you do well with a lower club in the prem or get promoted with a championship team.
The thing is with Championship teams and league 1,2 teams is that its more to do with your team talks and squad morale i find than just having a winning formula. geting the team fired up before the game always helps or sometimes saying the pressure is off can lead to a rout on your opponents, but choose your words carefully.
its also difficult to get your team back into winning ways after a big loss after a string of wins. my current game is with southampton. at the start of the season we were drawing and losing games all of the time and it was really frustrating and i was constantly losing out in the transfer window. we were seventeenth in the leauge by january winning only 6 games.
but then when i took the pressure off the players for the game against top of the league plymouth we won convincingly 3-0. we then went on a 17 game winning streak beating liverpool in the carling cup in the process.
i found that motivation when winning was the key to a continued sucess. and less pressure when losing can help drag you from the rot.
for my tactics i always use a quick tempo (move the meter about 3/4 the way up) i dont use a target man but i use one tall striker whose good in the air e.g. rowan vine and another skilful one who goal poaches and this was good old reliable Brian McBride. make sure your wingers get good crosses into the box for them but at the same time set your playing width to slightly narrow so your strikers basicslly have tap ins when a good ball is deliverd in.
make sure you have a defensive midfeilder and an attacking one to balance the middle of the park out. use short passing out to the flanks. set your defensive line to deep. you cant afford to be caught on the counter attack because in the championship you never have good luck with careless defending. dont use a target man or a playmaker but set your tall aerial striker to a target man style of play on the individual instructions.
make sure you have counter attacks set on and dont play the offside trap. you can afford to be extravogant and flash going forward but defensive blunders are a sin. in context you could say this style of play is similar to Bolton Wanderers.
of course there is no gaurantee that this particular tactic always works but its come up trumps for me so far. ive had to change my way of play though in the prem after promotioin via play-offs.

if you are thinking of starting a game with a championship club theres no team that is really a cut above the rest. the best team is probably West Brom but theres really a pretty even chance for most teams. here are a few of the better teams;

i started my game with Lewes in the conference south and i won both the conference south and conference in 2 years also winning the f.a trophy twice. so then i took the job at swindon and i got them into the championship in 3 seasons best performences reaching the semis of the f.a cup once and the semis of the league cup once then finally i got myself a premiership team in middlesborough then first season coming 3rd and then in next losing in cl qualifiers to espanyol so i got into uefa cup which i eventually won also in that year won prem so now into my eigth season when i won prem,cl and f.a cup and finally after 8 years of the game i got the job at barca where in my first season i won primera and copa del ray losing in the final of the c.l to man united!!! but the next year i won the quadruple copa del ray, primera, cl and spanish super cup. now in my eleventh season still with barca sitting top after 18 games in the league.

I’ve just installed the 7.01 patch. Now, when I sell players, i receive the club’s offer on duplicate, meaning, i sold hugo almeida to ac milan for 17mil and i received 34mil. Awsome, isn’t it? the only problem is when i buy players, i too pay on duplicate for them. if, for instance, i have a 20mil season budget, and i buy a player for 10mil, i’ll lose the other 10 mil given by the board, because, for the game, i bought the player for 20 mil. is there anyway i can undo that, without losing both my team and uninstalling the patch? I aprecciate any help.

there are many great left sided players on the game, for me though the biggest bargain is Lee Martin from Man U. £1m price tag a great signing.
But i swear you already have two great wingers if your Southampton, Rudi Skacel and Drew Surman. Sure Skacel is ageing but Surman is still young and can improve to a premiership level.

if youve put players on the transfer list and people wont buy them, try offering them to clubs at a cheap price and when clubs make bids negotiate the price a bit or add clauses etc.
and to ‘Jarashi’ did you also find it was more to do with being hands on in the lower leagues than just a good tactical knowledge also. i’m keen to know how other players found the lower divisions as no-one else who i know who plays the game bothers trying with the crap teams.

Obviously the best three teams to start off with in the Prem are Chelsea ,due to their huge budget and good squad, Man U and Arsenal.
Arsenal are a great team to be because of their depth and cash. also they have a thriving youth system.
Liverpool are a difficult team to manage due to the game underrating a few of the players and the low transfer budget. it seems the only route for liverpool on the game is 3rd or 4th.
This may sound strange but if you want the best teams to manage you can try out Wigan or Charlton or Middlesbrough as there is actually less pressure as you are expected to get mid-table so this gives you a chance to get a good squad together and perhaps make one or two wonder signings and over achive one season and go on from there.
but its up to you. go for the three best and buy who you like. or be someone like Liverpool and Spurs and try to break the jynx of under-acheivement, or go for the bread and butter teams of the league. youll have less cash but more time and stability.

Put on the Northern Irish League. You can buy exciting prospects and experienced players for next to nothing.
I signed Peter Thompson for Bristol Rovers for £10K and sold him for £2m.
From the Northern Irish league i recommened, Peter Thompson, Alan Mannus, Sean Friars, Elliot Morris, Michael Collins, Michael Gault, Paul Leeman and Gary Hamilton.
These group of players cost me £100k in total and once trained up, helped me take Bristol Rovers to the Championship in 2 seasons

well ‘manager07′ i was winning everything with better teaams and i went onto a website and there was a challenge so i was intriged to know what the challenge was so i looked at it and it said that you should take a team from the conference south and build up until you are managing a team in a nations top divison and you are winning for example barca as i was winning la liga and at lewes i just got a few old wonders for example one player i bought was ashley sestanovich quite old not great stats but he was a great winger for lewes and i bought him at my next job for swindon and he also played well in league 2 and league 1 so there i hope i answered your question ‘manager07′

I have to disagree on the liverpool front. I am liverpool on the game i play with my brother and even though they dont have alot of money in the bank the baord gave me ALL of the money in the bank for my transfer fund, we are 5 seasons in and I have haad at least 25 mil every season form them and selling steven gerrard and xabi, allowed me to by people like Anderson and Aguero. I won the title 3 times in a row and then finished 2nd behind arsanel and then i have just won it in the 5th season along with (finally!!!!!) the Champions League. So with the right tactics and a few good signings they arent too bad to manage on fm07 aslong as dirt kylt plays well he scored 55 goals in the 1st season then he dint do to well in the 2nd season so i sold him for 16 mil in the 3rd, but i do agree they wer very hard to manage on fm2006.
Although chelsea have “All” the money at the begining of the game believe it or not but that well runs dry very very fast! in one or 2 seasons the budget they give you is appaling and your left to sell peopl to make the money.
Man U are the best team to manage if you want the money for your transfers! they make alot of money due to the ground and eventualy take over chelsea’s finiancial situation. All you gota do is use the money in the 1st season and buy Villa, and then sell off some of the “dead wood” that is in the squad!
Tottenham are a good team but DONT sell defoe if you are them as sthe team falls apart without him (my brother found that out the hard way), also everton can be very fun 2 manage.

Has anyone playing this game NOT won a domestic quadruple, champions league 3 times in a row, or gone unbeaten for a whole season?? It dawned on me after years of playing that I always end up with the best team in the game within 2 or 3 years, no matter who I play with, and everyone here seems to have the same experience. Weve all been wasting our precious time!!!

Another tip, if your the national manager and club manager, sell players for free with a clause that gives you lots of millions when he wins his first cap. You can offload complete rubbish players, give them a couple of minutes at the end of a national game, and make millions! evil laugh….
Also, there is one female player in the game, she has low stats but your attendance goes up if you buy her. Ill let you find her…

with Southampton the few players i bought in the January for me was defensive players. I actually bought Dave Vaughan from crewe for a good price cant remeber how much for though, i also aqquired billy Jones because of his versitality. i also snapped up Jari Litmanen on a free transfer after expressing an interest in him earlier. Brian Mcbride has probalbly been the best signing for me in the championship as his goals return was very good i thnk he got something like 26 goals in the league. i sold him though in the second season as hes poor in the prem.
James vaughan from Everton would be a good loan signing and if Agbonlahor has not been transferred on your game yet hed be good. and youve probably heard of Billy Sharp goal machine. great player.
also you can sign Nicolas Millan for a Championship team as hell be willing to join still if you offer him a pro contract.

Bojan is the best player on the game!! Im in season 2016/17 and he is a ledgend. he will get you 30-40 goals a season. he’s fast and amazing finishing. just put him in front og goal and he will score! scott sinclair also amazing. he got me 38 goals in one season. Just make sure u nuture these guys.

Aaron you need Guardado, can buy him at the begining on of the game for 2 / 3 mil, n within 3/4 seasons hes the most expensive player on the game, n this isnt a one off ive got a few games going and hes the same on all of them. i dont know how much he would cost you thought at your stage in the game but hes definatly worth it whatever the price.

I’m winning a lot at Liverpool still, ECup etc but much harder finding young talent now as the game gives you all the wrong info on good/bad players!!! Prob trying to make me resign – ha!
I laso us ethe small data base – it does effect the players you select as most of the players I have do not exist on a friends game who has the large data base.
They even use the same photos for diffentent playes as they are all made up players by now! Some of the players names are really funny also this far in the game!!!

hey guys, i need striker advice, my strikers currently are rossi, villa, rooney and dagoberto but unfotunately so far rooney has scored 10 goals in 33 games wiht just 3 assists too and his average rating is 6.54, should i sell him or should i wait it out and hope for the best? and how much could i get for him??
Cardenes is best played as a central attacking midfielder, i had been playing him as a right winger and his value was roughly 10 million since i moved him about 10 games a go his value has shot up to 17million. Also has any one else found that even if you don’t play Theo Walcott his value still goes mega high £27 million and hes only played 8 times for me this season.

still with my liverpool game and in 2012 my strckers are having real trouble scoring reneria has been my top goal scorer for a few seasons now winning the top goal scorwer in the league, this season that i have just finiahed he was again my highest acroing player with only 20 goals, my other strickers are Bojan, Aguaro, Anderson, i baught vela for a bargain of £13 mil half way through the season hoping he could turn it around but he got injured after 4 games and was out for the rest of the season, i also have Millan waiting in my reserves but none of these have been good this season.
I am really considering selling Aguaro so i can bring in a new top stricker as he hasnt performed at all i have had him for ages and hes rubbish dont ever buy him he had one half of a good season wer he scored like 25 goals in the 2nd half of the season apart from that he has been dier.
So does any one have any suggestions of some realy good top name top class stricker, im curently bidding for bojinov and suggestions would be great!?

you may need to get tougher on your team. after a conincing win never ever say youre delighted with them, they usually dont listen and they let it go to their heads. just say, well done lads. another problem with consistency is if youve signrd alot of players in a short space of time the balance of your team gets upset. before games never bother saying ‘for the fans’ as it is un-inspireing mostly. before a game try saying ‘i expect a win’ more often if its a crap team, or if its a team similar to your standard ‘we can win’ is ok. remember that your media comment is can be very important before a game as it can inspire your team to break the rot or continue the winning run . also a bit of slight constructive criticism at half time on some of your bigger players is useful. like if theyre having a six at the interval, say to them your dissapointed and they may want to prove you wrong.
your tactics seem ok, but dont be afraid to try other things. different players play differently with different systems so dont be afraid to tinker. if you find a good winning formula it can be useful to change it slightly after 2 or 3 games. just swap a player round or alter your team instructions to expose weaknesses in your opposition. take a look at one of my previous posts if youre interested what team instructions i used whilst in the championship.

you should never play a player based on his reputation. if hes playing badly drop him, if he continues, sell him. theres no point wasting your wage budget on him if hes not performing. get rid of him if he carries on playing bad and get pedro leon. a great player.

Yet again someone like you comes on claiming to have the best team ever….shut up……no body wants to here some one boasting about how good their team is it doesnt help any1 and is just a waste of every1s time. Your team is not even very good, youve just got the normal people that everyone knows about and can get.
